Or brake lines, whichever you prefer.

Replacing brake lines and bleeding brakes, my favorite...

Could be worse, you could be bending, cutting, and flaring your own.

Absolutely all the fuck that regarding doing it in steel. The next project I do runs on will be with CuNi line. Even that, not looking forward to it.

Inline Tube here in Michigan makes a ton of stuff for great prices:

I think they were $75 on rock auto. My dad has the HD Braking Package so they might be cheaper for you if you don't.

They do make good stuff. GM actually makes a powder-coated kit for the GMT-800 trucks, because they’re so prone to rusting out. I’ll need to do mine within the next year or so.

Oh, that’s not bad at all.

Not at all, and they're coated so no more rusting.

Those are GM lines?

Oh well that would probably be easier.

One of the cool things about where I live in Michigan is there’s a lot of places that stock stuff near by. I’ve got NPD down the street (literally, under 5 minute drive), Summit’s warehouse is over the border in ohio and i get free overnight shipping when I pick ground lol and these guys I mentioned earlier are in Michigan too.

WE GOT THE PARTS

I'm not sure if they're GM or not honestly.

That looks kinda fun to me, sort of like a puzzle. But then I see Tracy’s attempt, and think it must be astoundingly difficult to do well. And also wonder why manufactures couldn’t spend a few bucks more and use something that doesn’t rust in the first place.

Laying out the lines and bending them is only sort of irritating. The crux of what makes it a bad job is the flaring - which requires access to the brake pipe wherever you’re positioning it or almost perfect figuring of length before hand - and is very, very difficult to get right every time. You basically have to file down the outside to make it thin, so it can sort of fold back on/shrink on itself. Coated steel does not like to do this, and requires enormous force, and any amount that you are off center will ruin the flare - which can be any time you didn’t shave down the pipe exactly equally on all sides. The new preferred thing to do is to use copper nickel alloy. Easier to bend, less stress hardening if you bend it wrong, but stiffer than copper, harder to accidentally pinch closed, and can be flared properly - isn’t too soft. No splitting like steel, no rusting like steel, and might even be less permeable to moisture.

I’ll look into it. The mechanic who does the stuff on my cars I either don’t want to deal with, or is above my head, said they’re pretty cheap.
